Phil English, cross country and track coach of Eisenhower H.S. of Washington state. Phil grew up in the village of Cullen, County Tipperary, Ireland. He graduated from Tipperary Vocational School in 1973 and then accepted a track/cross country scholarship to attend Washington State University. He graduated from WSU in 1977 and also obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Physical Education in 1979. Phil began his coaching and teaching career in 1979 at Carroll H.S. in Yakima, and when Carroll closed its doors in 1986 he moved down the street to Eisenhower H.S. He has spent the majority of his career teaching Biology and Anatomy & Physiology. During a career that spans close to 40-years, Phil has coached over a dozen individual and team state champions and in 2001 was the girls National Federation of High Schools Coach of the Year.
