Jesse Chapman began his tenure as the Assistant Coach for Jumps and Multi Events in July of 2016.

During his first season at Columbia, Chapman's athletes saw school records fall, while standing atop the podium at the Ivy League Championships. At Indoor Heps, Anna Williams impressed on her final attempt in the triple jump, going 12.99m for the win. Both Williams and Maryam Hassan qualified for the NCAA East Prelims in the event, after going 2-3 in the triple jump during Outdoor Heps. Chapman also helped rookie Daniel Igbokwe qualify for the East Prelims on the men's side with a school record 15.63m effort in the triple jump, while indoor and outdoor school record holder Robert O'Brien qualified in the pole vault.

Chapman spent the 2015-16 season coaching at Northeastern University, spending time with the vertical jumps and multi-event specialists. Northeastern found much success with the help of Chapman, as the Huskies men’s team won the CAA Outdoor Championship as well as the Outdoor New England Championship. In addition, five of the athletes he coached combined for 56 of the 157 points the Huskies scored during the New England Outdoor Championship.

Chapman spent the summers of 2014 and 2015 working at the Complete Track & Field Camp at Harvard, designing practice regiments and analyzing video for vertical jumpers. 

A standout at the University of Connecticut, Chapman was the 2013 Big East Champion in the Decathlon and won the silver medal at the conference championships during his freshman and senior seasons. The five-time All-Big East selection in the indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon is a 2014 graduate of UConn with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science.
