Joe Clark is the head coach at Lakes High School. He has coached high school standouts Isaac Yorks (4:04.77 for 1600m in HS, 3:37.74 for 1500m in college) and Joe Gray. Additionally, coach Clark is the President of the Washington Cross Country Coaches Association. MaEd, coaching 28 years. Teacher at Lakes High School.
Has been President of the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association for the past 13 years. In that time our board has worked hard to improve our sport, including where, we have been able to provide increased access at the state meet.
Has coached three athletes who went on to All American Status in college, Joe Gray, Seth Bridges, and Izaic Yorks. Joe and Izaic are both running professionally. Joe has made numerous national teams and several national trail running championships as well as a world championship. Izaic finished his senior year in college as an all American in Cross Country, Indoor track (where he set the American collegiate Indoor mile record), Outdoor Track (2nd in the 1500 meters) and then made the finals in the Olympic Trials. As a high schooler, Izaic was a cross country (NXN 4th place) all american and track All American. He set the state 1600 record with the fastest time ever in an all high school race. He ran 4:04 two weeks in a row, and also set the 3A 800 state meet record.
As a coach I have had several district championship teams and individuals and 10 league titles. More importantly, several of my athletes have gone on to coach, including 5 with me at one time or another. Like most coachers, I am most concerned with developing the person, as I feel that is a vital key to helping them unlock their potential as an athlete and Individual.
